904-068
May 16, 2005
As I said
before, the porosity in the surface of these parts left a
little to be desired. There was no need for the company that
built the 904s for Porsche to make these parts perfect. These
were race cars, not show cars. Our problem, or shall I say,
the problem between what the customer wants versus what the
car provides (in the original state), is day and night. As
I always explained, we walk a narrow trail to keep both the
car and customer happy.
Jack and
I did the final sand on Sunday and I painted it at lunchtime
today.
These
pictures show the color being a gray tone, but they are actually
satin black primer. Tomorrow both 904 tails go right side
up and I start block sanding for gray primer. Hopefully, by
the end of the week we'll be shooting silver.
