906-127
August 30, 2004

We just received a little more history on 906-127.

"I found out that Sepp Greger did not sell 127 directly to Manfred Pade. There was another owner in between (1969 & 1970), by the name of Kurt Hild, a privateer from Munich who also raced several other Porsches over the years (910, 908, KMW SP30 Porsche Turbo, Carrera RS, etc.). In fact Kurt Hild was Sepp Greger's co-driver in a 910 at the 1972 Nürburgring 1000 kms., where they finished 26th overall and 7th in class. Hild was the one who sold 127 to Pade."

"If I am not mistaken, Kurt Hild is also known for having been involved in the terrible accident that caused the death of Pedro Rodriguez during the July 11, 1971 Nuremberg 200 mile Inter-Series championship race for Group 7 cars. What definitively happened is not entirely known, aside from the fact that Rodriguez, running first in a borrowed Ferrari 512M, was lapping Hild (910) when he lost control, they touched, Rodriguez hit the wall and his car caught on fire. Hild was later cleared of any responsibility in the accident..."

Hild's race results with the 906 are well-documented (see below, courtesy of Ulrich Trispel), though rather insignificant.
